I'm not Dead, I Promise

I know, I know it's been such a long time since I last was here and told you anything. I haven't been doing too well so I am sorry.

Fun times are coming up though! At my last Con up in Omaha, NE, I wreaked havoc as Lucifer(Supernatural), I laughed at the death of the Jason Todd Robin as the Joker(Batman), and I ran circles around the rest as Quicksilver, Pietro Maximoff(Marvel).

With that Con over and it being a new month I have another Con to go to, "Con Alt Delete" the weekend of December 18th. For this one, I'll be fucking everyone's life up as Lucifer(Supernatural), I'll be playing with the aliens from the ocean as Newton(Pacific Rim), and I'll be laughing at danger as Keith(L4D2).

Tomorrow is going to be Hellish

Tomorrow morning I am riding in a car for 8 hours to go to a convention. Why the long hellish drive with a woman who is afraid to drive in the dark? Because, the convention is in Nebraska and well, I never claimed to be smart. This is going to be so much fun.
With her, an incredibly nerdy guy, and  my best friend in the car, we'll have so much fun on the way up and back. With me constantly drinking coffee and Conor not being allowed to touch caffeine this is going to be fun.
The amount of nerdy-ness and excitement on the way up is only going to be matched by the amount of aggravation and lack of sleep on the way back.

11 DAYS?!

Halloween is in just 11 days! That is correct! Do you know how much excitement is in me currently? So very much!
Halloween is the one day, outside of cons, that you can dress up in costume and not get shit for it. Or at least not as much as usual.
Halloween night is here from a long time ago as residual of the Pagan holiday All Hollows Night, in which the people believe the spirits could walk with the living. So, we dress up and carve the jack-o-lanterns in an attempt to scare them away from us.
But anyway, Halloween has always been a big holiday for my family and costumes have always played a big part!
This year I am being a Demon and attending my friend Randi's party, to get away from the chaos that is the dorms on Halloween night.
But I am very super excited, just 11 more days until Halloween! And then 17 days until Nebraskon! X3

Avoid the Gray Body Paint

The most terrifying moment I have experienced during a convention was getting caught in an elevator for 6 floors with a group of Home-stuck cosplayers, which are literally Trolls. They're very loud, usually very strange, and most of the ones I've encountered are incredibly rude.
But I got caught with three of them surrounding me in this elevator. One girl standing to the side, and two guys on the other sides, on the fourth side was the elevator door. One of the boys was wearing a Mrs. Clause dress and they were all covered in grey body paint. Home-Stuck cosplayers always are.
But the worst part of it all was the fact that when I got in they closed in on me and started beat-boxing in my ear, the one in the dress started rapping. I can't remember any of the words, all I remember is how fast I ran out of the doors when they finally opened on my level and the look of amusement on my friends' faces when I told them about it later.
But personally, they scare me greatly, I now avoid the gray body paint.

Con Weekends

Convention weekends sneak up on you. I have one in three weeks. It's the 6th through the 8th or November this year and it's all the way over in Nebraska. It's a yearly one that is either the first week of November or the weekend of Halloween. Luckily it's avoiding Halloween this year so I have more chances to run around in costume like the Nerd I truly am. But out of the many things I could say and recommend for con trips, here are the top 5.

  1. Drink a lot of water
  2. Stay away from alcohol(even if you are of legal age)
  3. Don't fight with your friends
  4. If someone is harassing you get the con security to recognize them as a threat to attendance(because sadly, sometimes that is the only way they will help)
  5. Don't get makeup on other cosplayers, objects, animals, or walls....You will either be cussed out or sued.
Have a happy con if you go and hopefully I will have one also!

No Matter How Many Times...

No matter how many times a friend would tell me before I step out of the hotel door I will feel the bit of panic in my stomach with the first person who sees me in my newest cosplay. Hell, even if I've worn it before, I promise, I'll still feel the panic and it won't die down until some stranger smiles at me and recognizes who I am. Then I'll relax and at that point it won't matter if no one else knows who I am or if they give me shit for my portrayal. After that first person I am invincible and nothing can touch me.

And From the Depths of the Abyss I Return!

I'm sorry dear one's I haven't been here for nearly two weeks... I warned you in the beginning...
Anyway, while I am actually here, coherent, and not keeled over in pain I would like to remind you all to lift with your knees not you back.
Also, in the world of cosplay if you would eat breakfast on a normal day, DON'T SKIP IT DURING A CON. You will feel like absolute shit all day if you do I can almost guaranty it! So, eat something, anything, even if it's a cereal bar, eat something!
How do these two things go together you might ask yourself, I'll tell you. It's the amount of pain you'll be in later. One will be in your back and distract you from everything else and the other will cause a dull aggravating pain(worse if you skipped dinner too) that causes you to be snippy and on edge.
So I will say this once again; Lift with your knees and eat breakfast.
